I am an Information Technology Specialist at the Department of the Treasury and an Adjunct Professor at Evergreen State College, where I teach undergraduate courses in Security Policies and Procedures. With over a decade of experience in cybersecurity management, I strive to bring real-world insights into my classroom, bridging the gap between theory and practice. My dual roles allow me to stay engaged with the latest industry challenges while sharing practical knowledge with my students, especially in areas like governance, incident response, and security operations.
As a professor, I develop and manage syllabi that meet high academic standards and cover essential cybersecurity topics. I aim to make my classes engaging and relevant, drawing on my experiences in the public and private sectors to bring complex concepts to life. My teaching style is deeply influenced by my professional background, which spans infrastructure support, penetration testing, and program management. I believe that blending technical rigor with strategic insights gives my students a unique perspective and prepares them for the diverse challenges in cybersecurity.
In my role at the Treasury, I serve as a technical advisor on cybersecurity and privacy programs, ensuring that IT initiatives align with agency objectives and comply with federal mandates and industry best practices. I manage all phases of cybersecurity project lifecycles and proactively address challenges across IT divisions. My work involves integrating cybersecurity with broader organizational goals, helping the agency stay ahead of security risks.
My academic journey has been focused on advancing my knowledge in cybersecurity. I hold a Master’s in Cybersecurity Technology and a Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland University College, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity Management at Nova Southeastern University.
